Canisius High School is celebrating its diamond Jubilee in June 2009. The school has undergone considerable refurbishment over the last 5 years and the plan is to bring it back to its original good shape had when it was founded and even make it look better as it celebrates the Jubilee. One area that needs urgent attention are the sports fields. The basketball, tennis courts and football pitches are in bad shape and there is a drive to raise money to fix them Sport is very important part of the school life at Canisius but also daily life in Chikuni. Young people have a lot of spare time and the nearest large town is Monze about 10 miles away. Sport allows young people to come together socially, exercise and channel their energy into competitive sports. The fixing of the sports facilities are in 3 phases and for the first and urgent phase the budget is £5,000.
