Marathon - Guyana, South America Projects

£4,000 for liturgical items for the churches in the interior of the country.   Most Amerindian villages have a church, but without a proper tabernacle, ciboria etc.   The Jesuits of the region are initiating a project, using local skills and materials, to replace these items with ones locally made.   This project will work out of a workshop already established at St Ignatius in Letham.

£1,000 for the Berbice community, to use as seed money for micro enterprises that families will be able to manage themselves.   This will help with the economic regeneration of this deprived area.

£2,000 to assist with the East Coast feeding programmes.   These have provided country children with a nutritious meal in the middle of the school day and thus enabled children to benefit from their classes.

£2,000 to assist the Catholic Standard, who need to update some of their equipment.
