Marathon - St Ignatius School—Scholarship Fund, Dodoma, Tanzania

The Jesuit Province of East Africa built the school only four years ago, with some financial support from Our Lady of Peace Foundation in Canada.  St Ignatius, Dodoma is an English medium school, which means that all the lessons are conducted in English.  Jonathan Taitt, a recent Old Ignatian from Enfield, has just returned as a volunteer there, teaching English and was in charge of the school library.

Children’s books in English are very expensive and difficult to get in Tanzania, so the very first move in our initiative is to try to collect as many children’s reading books as possible, and to send them to fellow Ignatians in Dodoma.

This year Headmaster Mr John-Paul Morrison and Fr Tim Byron, chaplain from St Ignatius College in Enfield, will be joined by staff member Mr Declan Linnane to raise funds for a scholarship fund for the school.
