Click here for David Hurst's Race Report Congratulations to all the runners who took part in the marathon on Sunday 13th April 2008. It certainly appears that the rain did not dampen everyone's spirits as the times were very fast and the crowd was with you every step of the way. In total 21 runners started the marathon for our team, and we lost only one due to an early injury. Five runner s broke the sub-four hour mark including Brian as the 'fat lazy Womble' recording just 3:51:13. He was quickly followed by Robert as Wellington Womble (04:24:21) and Dermot as Great Uncle Bulgaria (05:04:42). All very respectable times considering they spent most of their time waving to the crowds! Our director Fr Tim said he would lead from the back, but was beaten into last place by David Hurst who recorded 06:42:24. For that David will be forced to run again next year and raise even more Makumbi Children's Home in Zimbabwe , and likewise for Tim so that he can achieve his objective. A number of runners made it back to Farm St for the post marathon reception, and it was impressive how well everyone looked. It was very interesting listening how some were due to fly home in a few hours, some were going off to work in their parishes, and other were about to make the long journey home to study or work the next day!
